In case you were wondering if the current Mayor, Police Chief, and Powers That Be have succeeded in curtailing, or even slowing down, the never-ending crime wave that plagues Chicago, the answer is a resounding “NO!”
I am not saying that they do not want to, or that they did not come in with good intentions and talking a big game, like every single politician since William B. Ogden (the city’s first mayor) came into power.
Unfortunately, violence and murder remain as much a part of Chicago’s DNA as Lake Michigan, the Chicago River, the el, rich neighborhoods, and poor neighborhoods.
Crime remains rampant no matter what they try, but I personally feel as if the current regime is somewhat more inept than past ones.
I know that any criticism lobbed Ms. Lightfoot’s way is met with a highly defensive response that it must be based on her race.
This is not so.
My criticism of her is that she does a horrible job running the Second City on a day-to-day basis. As far as I have seen, she has done little to nothing to improve either the business climate, infrastructure, schools, or anything else that would make a guy like me or a person like you want to move there.
Quite the opposite.
