Well, you know what they say: “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.”
Before the coronavirus or BCV, as I will refer to it here, I was set to get a decent raise at the beginning of this month. Now I am glad, and not just a little, to remain among the gainfully employed.
With the unemployment rate spiking up to nearly fifteen percent in the matter of the last two months, those eighty-five percent of us who remain among the ranks of the employed should be very glad indeed.
BCV, I was not so worried about losing my hard-earned and even harder-retained position. Now I worry a bit. Unless you are your own boss or are in a high-in-demand position like a doctor, nurse, or first responder…
