Fighting burnout is difficult to encapsulate in a short timeframe. But there are a few down-and-dirty things that you can contemplate over the next three minutes and if you make one or two of them a habit rather than just reading this and moving on to the next story, it may just change your life for the better.

Seek and Recognize a Moment of Joy

Both of my children have been stressed out about many things from the small to the monumental over the years. I have always urged them to take some moment of joy from their day, even if it is just for a minute, and try to recognize it.

Don’t just stress from the time you grudgingly make your way out of bed until the minute you crawl back into it.

Think about a few things that truly make you feel engaged and happy and then do your best to work at least one of them into your day.

I’ll share a secret with you — I love sipping coffee in the morning while snuggling with my Baby in front of our second furnace when it kicks on. Any day when I do that cannot be all bad.

My sweet baby is often the bright spot of my day.
