Today may just be the day that I am forced to admit to having no strong handle on this situation.
Although I am the primary economic and business development person for a mid-sized suburban Chicago municipality, I am starting to lose it here.
Long-known for my coolheadedness, calm demeanor, and composure that has been mistaken for nonchalance by many, even yours truly is beginning to panic.
Did that take-out from the Thai restaurant that I purchased our dinner from last night come with a side order of coronavirus?
Did my scratchy throat and mild headache on Tuesday and Wednesday portend to imminent death?
Am I going to spend my last days on earth writing Medium stories, sharing Facebook posts and trying to reassure small businesses, many of which will fail to survive this crisis?
Who knows?
So while I work from home for the first time this week, I toggle on over to my Twitter account and then scroll scroll scroll. I check my work emails, my Yahoo! emails and my gmails and click click click.
Doom and gloom.
