I have a story, but I'm old and this goes back about 100 years.

One of my mother's uncles got engaged and married with a "dime-store ring" from a defunct business called Woolworth's in Chicago. TBH, it was probably about $5 back then which would be much higher now.

He went on to start a business that went on to be acquired and listed on the NYSE. He sold the business for 8 figures around 1980 when that was like $100M now.

They remained married for @ 70 years, were multimillionaires and multiple homes etc., but my mother's aunt, my great-aunt, always wore the same dime store ring.

She did have some massive necklaces and other jewelry, but always remembered where they started.
