I should call it "semi-retirement age." I am going on 53, 30 years in local gov't, would like to end my service in about 4 years, but am seeking other more fulfilling opportunities, so "retirement age" for me is late 50s.

Our 2 children are 20 and soon-to-be 25. Many parents would have "cut them off" by now. Our son is starting law school and our daughter is just enrolling in community college. We're doing whatever we can to help them.

Health insurance is a major concern and I fear for when our son comes off of ours in about 2 years. Insurance is the main reason why I may wind up working past my "expiration date."

In terms of cell phone, I honestly don't mind paying those.

Thanks for reading the story and taking the time for your comments and questions. I don't have all the answers, but will keep on helping them to the best of my ability for as long as I can.
