Our City Arrests Victims
In yet another story that I certainly would and should not write if I used my real name, I wish to share something that pisses me off and will most likely piss you off as well.
It’s a major injustice if you will.
As I have shared from time to time, my profession is serving as an economic development official for a mid-sized suburban community in the Chicago area. I have been doing this for a very long time, going on twenty-three years, the past eighteen for the same city.
Prior to that, my first job out of college was serving as an Adult Probation Officer from the age of twenty-two to almost thirty.
That is just to inform you that when it comes to the city that employs me, perhaps only the city manager and deputy city manager know more about what is going on than I do. And sometimes I know more than they do!
One of the ongoing problems that we have, and it is hardly unique to our community, is sometimes referred to as the world’s oldest profession, i.e. prostitution rings, some of which are likely tied to human trafficking, that manifests in the form of Asian massage parlors that pop up around the town.
Mind you, none of us are stupid or oblivious to it. As a matter of fact, the last time that one sought city…
