Member-only story
Our son is home from Denver between Christmas and New Year’s.
Having come up empty last night on a good prompt to generate an NFT, my current hobby and budding side hustle, I asked my son for a suggestion.
He said that I should do some work based upon album covers for popular ones and groups that I like but are not so popular.
When I told him that is a great idea, but I cannot simply infringe on copyrighted materials. I cannot create an NFT that replicates or morphs one of my favorite album covers from Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon to the Smashing Pumpkins’ Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness to the Beatles’ Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
To which he replied, “What about Sergeant Salt’s Lonely Hearts Club Band?”
Which led to the 75-plus-minute 1,500 iteration composition that you see above.
I cannot say that I love the rendering or think that it closely resembles a band, but we can see the four faces including the guy with the earring in the foreground.
We can also make out the colorful decorations, a la the Beatles’ famous cover, on the “leader” of this particular rendering.
I will be sitting on this one for a while and will ultimately make some tweaks to it, perhaps adding a few elements or maybe taking a few away. I am not sure yet what improvements will make me like this one more and feel good about putting it out there on the market for some future buyer to collect.
Any suggestions including just to delete the damned thing are welcome.
