10 Grocery Shopping Tips

Normally, grocery shopping tips would revolve around how to save some money, perhaps the best time of the week to do your shopping, or what stores to shop at for a various assortment of items.

These are not normal times, are they?

I cannot profess to be the primary grocery shopper in my family. That title goes to my wife, who drove several towns away today to pick up some much-needed items from a Walmart. Nothing against the world’s largest brick-and-mortar retail establishment which has provided the Walton family with a fortune currently estimated just short of $200 billion, but I could count on my fingers how many times my wife and I have combined to shop there during over the course of the last ten years.

Two funny little side notes when it comes to my own relationship with the megalithic retail chain.

One is that I actually said with my own mouth about fifteen years ago while speaking with a Walmart real estate executive that “The [town that employs me] is not a Walmart kind of town.” I was new to my current job as an economic developer for a Chicago area municipality at the time, and I was simply repeating the Mayor and City Council’s sentiment in those days.
