Here’s What an Economic Developer Does During the Coronavirus Crisis
Hello there. Although by night and many weekends I am an aspiring personal finance writer who also delves into other various topics, by day I am one of the top economic development professionals in the state.
Although I have spent numerous hours this week writing stories to post here on Medium including Coronavirus Considerations, Financial Infidelity and Remaining Calm During the Storm, I am too exhausted and stressed out right now to write my next one, which for those few of you who happen upon this story, will be about taking a minute or several minutes per day for mindfulness during the shitstorm that keeps coming our way.
Also, for the first time in my twenty-seven years of full-time work post-college, I will be working from home most of the time for the next two-plus weeks. Like many states are doing, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker today issued a “stay at home” order for the entire state starting Saturday at 5 p.m. through April 7.
I will not recap the entirety of the order but, rest assured, as a local government official who watched the governor’s entire address in the company of other administration staff, we are at the forefront of what is going on in the state, our region and especially our city.
