Thirty Thousand Points of Pain

I want to start this by flatly stating that I pay more than $30,000 per year for my son to attend a private college in the Chicago area, where he majors in music.

Had you told me twenty years ago when I was the P.O. in Chicago making about that same amount per year, with a newborn son and a stay-at-home wife, that I would be able to shell out that kind of money for my then-baby to attend a private institution…
